"The application of permaculture principles and thinking to peoplecare has long been a vexed issue for permaculture activists, designers and teachers. In her book Looby Macnamara uses her solid grounding in permaculture to show that its principles and thinking can help us all be effective and hopeful in an age of change and challenge. In the process she draws in kindred ideas and influences from the field of peoplecare, making a significant contribution in the ongoing evolution of permaculture as a concept and a movement creating a better world."

David Holmgren, co-originator of the Permaculture concept

"Thank you so much - this course really has changed my life" *

title
Permaculture Association Design Course Certificate

This is a unique permaculture design course, in that it focuses primarily on ourselves as people -  we will look deeply at the questions - how can we grow ourselves, our friendships, our communities, our human family? Looby will be bringing her knowledge from her recently published book 'people and permaculture'.  We will be looking at how we can improve all aspects of our lives - from our health and well-being to our friendships. We will also take a look at the bigger picture of how we can use permaculture in our education and healthcare systems and how we can feel connected globally. She will be sharing her new design framework - the design web.

Course participants will be awarded the Permaculture Association (Britain)'s internationally recognised Certificate in Permaculture Design.

We will be integrating some land based skills and observation activities through the course, and learning from nature to bring natural metaphors and rhythms into our lives. There will be plenty of time and space during the course to focus on your own dreams and visions and we will be developing a toolkit to help us achieve our goals. This practical course will bring the possibility of significant and positive life changes. Permaculture offers a perspective on all aspects of building a sustainable and abundant future. Permaculture encourages us to use our individual skills, knowledge and interests, whilst drawing on traditional wisdom, science and our innate ability to observe and learn from the world around us

OUR VENUE:
Braziers Park is a community, a residential college and an architectural treasure hidden deep in the south Oxfordshire countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was founded in 1950 as an educational trust, and is a continuing experiment in the advantages and challenges of living in a group. Community members share responsibility for running the mansion house (a Grade II* listed building), 55 acres of land, organic kitchen garden and livestock, assisted by visiting volunteers from around the world.

We endeavor to create a space which enables people to integrate both learning and teaching, and to find and develop their full potential in all aspects - intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual. We strive to understand more fully our relationships with each other and with nature and society, so that we can co-operate in taking constructive action in the world today. see www.brazierspark.co.uk for more venue info and click here for a video of Braziers Park

Learning the principles using cards

Empowerment is the essence of the course. We will be using practical and theoretical teaching methods to create a fun, lively & inclusive course. The course culminates in the main design activity that helps to consolidate all of the learning & empower students to take permaculture back into their own homes, lives & community. As a group we will benefit from collaborative learning & from having fun together. We don't expect any previous knowledge & recognise that everyone has their own unique skills, knowledge & areas of interest to bring to the course.
